SERENADE A MOMENT
He wove dreams with and around me
I will take you to the river
and make you a raft
You can lie there and float
with the current.
I'll lift you up by a rope to our own tree
house
We will watch the blue moon together
and hear the owl hoot.
I will send you love letters on lotus leaves
down the river.
I will weave you flower garlands made of
buttercups.
There are open spaces in the forest
where the bamboo bloomed and died
We will go to the stream where the wild
animals drink.
I will show you how the cheetah's eyes
shine in the dark jungle
I will show you how to make baskets
out of palm leaves
And I will make love to you
among the flowers in the hillside
where the birds sing.

YOU LOVE ME, YES?
How adamant you are
that
you don't love me!
How long will you say that?
There's longing in your eyes
My talents surprise
You hold your breath
Coming close to me is death
You wait by the door for hours -
pretending to count some absent stars
And everything that's pink
makes you smile and of me think
You helped me with the weeds
so i'd appreciate your good deeds
You walk a very long way -
a glimpse of me will make your day
You're floundering, lost for words -
all i said was 'lovely birds!'
You bike precariously downhill
making sure I can see you still...
And yet you say you don't love me
That I sing a mistaken strain?
If that's not love
then tell me -
what is love again?

AT THE END OF THE DAY

At the end of the day
It wasn't the hour that mattered
It was your being there.
It wasn't the drink that mattered
It was the compatible silence.
It wasn't the view that mattered
It was your hand in mine.
It wasn't the world that mattered
It was your safety.
It wasn't the food that mattered
It was your taste.
It wasn't the dress I wore that mattered
It was that you liked it.
It wasn't the calls that mattered
It was your voice.
It wasn't the distance that mattered
It was your presence.
It wasn't the conversation that mattered
It was that we spoke.
It wasn't the working out that mattered
It was that we tried.
It wasn't the amount that mattered
It was that you cared.

LET’S TAKE THINGS FURTHER…
Storm lulled,
Passion spent,
In each others’ arms
Sated and content.
A lingering touch,
A gentle smile,
A soft word or two,
A lull awhile.
A soft drizzle,
A gentle breeze,
Prismic raindrops
On tips of leaves.
Love, now a drowsy, lulled security-
Safe and snug in the arms of eternity,
And as nocturnal Moon on it’s round now starts,
Frozen memories in the recesses of hearts...
